I’m running to represent you
My name is Julia Marvin and I’m running for Thornton City Council in Ward 2. My family has lived in Thornton for over 50 years, and this community has always held a special place in my heart. That’s why my husband and I decided to put down roots here when we bought our first home a few years ago.
I believe that we all have a responsibility to ourselves, our families, and our community to make where we live a better place. Since moving here, I’ve gotten involved by serving on city committees, volunteering, and leading a local organization focused on getting young people more civically engaged.
It was through these activities that I really started to pay attention to what was happening on our city council. Local elections and who we choose to represent us truly matters. I decided to run for office because for a city to thrive, it needs to have a government that works for the people, instead of for special interests and the well connected.
If elected you can count on me to:
-Make our government more accessible to everyone through increased communication, transparency, and engagement
-Create a strong economy that supports workers and provides more opportunities for small businesses and entrepreneurs
-Keep our neighborhoods safe, clean and affordable
-Fight for public transportation, traffic improvements, and better roads
-Preserve our environment and protect the health and safety of our citizens
Thornton is a great place to live, but as we continue to grow, we have work to do to make sure we’re creating a city that is forward-thinking and provides opportunities for everyone to succeed and have a good life. I hope you will consider voting for me, and together we can build a better Thornton.
